The blood slowly dripped from his gaping wound
He yelled in pain as he fell to the ground
He heard the screams of his brothers ahead
“Go on without me was what he had said.”
They were his people, he couldn’t let them die
He felt those bullets rip him from the inside
He slowly crouched down, he couldn’t breathe
But he promised his people he’d set them all free
The pain was too much, he was losing control
He slowly whispered, “Please take me back home”
He remembered the tears his mother had cried
He kissed her and told her he’d come back alive
He hugged his sister as he held her hand
“I’ll set us all free, this is Palestine it is our land.”
He felt a tear roll down his cheek
His daughter’s last words, “Baba please don’t leave.”
He knelt down as he looked into her eyes
He promised his princes he’d be by her side
His soul ached as he remembered his wife’s smile
He told her he’d be back in a little while
The wounds weren’t hurting, as much as his heart
He broke his promise, it was tearing him apart
He closed his eyes as he waited for death
The hope in his chest was what he had left
He could feel his body rip through his soul
He was only a martyr who couldn’t get back home.
I wrote this around ten-twelve years ago, in high school, when I fully grasped the Palestine genocide done by the Israelis. I pray for them each and everyday.
I cannot conceive of the pain in these people’s hearts. Your poem is very poignant.

A very gripping poem. I think it speaks for young men called to fight in a war throughout history.

Minimum standard for a nation is to have a home, a country. Palestinians don’t.
One click vote, for the establishment of the Palestinian Country
Just a humane action
Spread the word
